"Massage therapy is a clinically-oriented healthcare option that helps alleviate the discomfort associated with every day occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions." RMTAO
Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health. Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems.
Deep Tissue Massage is an intensive treatment used to release chronic muscle tension and tension in the connective tissue through slower strokes and more direct pressure applied across the grain of the muscles. Used for chronic aches and pains, and contracted areas such as a stiff neck, upper back, lower back pain, leg muscle tightness and sore shoulders.
Contemporary Medical Acupuncture is performed by a Registered Massage Therapist. During the treatment acupuncture needles are inserted into anatomically defined neurofunctional sites, and stimulated manually or with electricity for the therapeutic purpose of modulating abnormal activity of the nervous system in pain syndromes and functional problems.
Massage therapy during pregnancy is a great complement to prenatal care. It is a healthy way to promote overall wellness for you and your baby. Health benefits include: improved mood, decreased depression and anxiety, reduced swelling, relaxation, increased blood and lymph circulation, relief from muscle cramps, spasms and myofascial pain.
Relaxation massage is a smooth, gentle, flowing style that promotes general relaxation, relieves muscular tension, plus improves circulation and range of movement. While relaxation massage is wonderful for you, it is less effective than the deeper styles for changing soft tissue tension.
The application of specific massage techniques to an athlete with the purpose of enhancing the athlete’s preparation for, or recovery from, the physical demands of training or competition. This type of treatment is also effective therapy for patients with injuries, chronic pain and limited mobility.
The application of specific massage techniques can help with muscle discomforts and counteract emotional and physical side effects. Post treatment massage can address lymphedema in the body and relive aches and pains the body is experiencing. Massage can also help the client re-establish a positive body image during and after cancer treatment
